Plate 02  ·  Systems studioObserve / model / ship / correct

When the systemdoes not match the work.

The studio is the other half of this company. Three products came out of running operations; the same practice is available directly to agencies, events, field programs and small organizations whose work has outgrown the tools holding it together.

MethodThree moves, in order
  1. 01

    Work the operation

The problem is observed in the room, on the floor, during load-in, not gathered from a survey.

  2. 02

    Design the system

Schedules, roles, statuses and escalation paths get modeled before a screen is drawn.

  3. 03

    Ship it into the day

The tool is deployed while the operation is live, then corrected against what actually happens.

01

Operations audit

2 to 3 weeks

We come see what you actually have and how the work really runs, on the floor, during load-in, on show day. You get back a clear written picture of your schedule, who does what, how status moves, and where it breaks.

02

System design

3 to 5 weeks

We design the fix before anyone builds a screen. What a record is, who changes it, what happens when it changes, and what has to be true by end of day. You get the plan your tool will be built from.

03

Build and deploy

Per engagement

We build the working tool and put it into the live operation, then fix it against what actually happens in the room instead of what the plan assumed.

04

Run alongside

Season or program

We stay on through the season or the program, hold the system while it is under real load, and hand over documentation your team can run without us.

The studio’s record

This is not theoretical. The operations audit and system rebuild is work already delivered, including an operations audit and full Airtable rebuild for a national apparel brand’s field program. VM Liferaft, an offline-first install tracking tool, was built and deployed during the FIFA World Cup 26 build at Lincoln Financial Field. It ran on phones with no reliable network, tracked install status by item and by zone, and produced the daily client report.

Engagements are scoped directly with Brian before any work begins.

Fig. 3 · Signs the work has outgrown the tool
  • The schedule lives in a spreadsheet and the truth lives in a group chat.
  • Every status change requires someone to remember to tell someone.
  • The reporting is reconstructed after the fact from photos and memory.
  • The platform you pay for was built for a different kind of operation.
  • Onboarding a new lead takes a phone call, not a document.
